From January to October 2024, China's railways transported 3.71 billion passengers, marking a 13% YoY increase and setting a new historical high for the same period. The national railway system operated safely and smoothly.

By efficiently utilizing modern rail network resources and scientifically and accurately allocating capacity, passenger transport capabilities were significantly enhanced. An average of 10,555 passenger trains were dispatched daily, a 9.3% increase compared to last year. The use of ticketing and reservation data from the 12306 railway platform enabled dynamic analysis of travel demand and precise adjustments in capacity, timely adding capacity on popular routes and during peak travel times. The railway sector successfully managed transportation during key holiday periods, including the Spring Festival, summer travel peak and national holidays like Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week, meeting travelers' holiday travel needs with relatively high quality. On October 1, the national railway network transported 21.448 million passengers, setting a new single-day record. Additionally, 1,599 tourist trains were operated from January to October, supporting the tourism and "silver economy." Cross-boundary and cross-border passenger transport was also strengthened, with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway carrying nearly 22.5 million cross-boundary passengers, a 39.5% YoY increase. The China-Laos Railway also transported 217,000 cross-border passengers. The railway sector continues to maintain the operation of normal-speed trains, including public welfare "slow trains" and rural revitalization trains, ensuring accessibility for communities in old revolutionary base areas, ethnic minority autonomous regions, land border areas and areas lifted out of poverty.

Next, CR will closely monitor changes in passenger demand, strengthen passenger transportation organization, dynamically optimize train scheduling, diversify passenger services, and improve station and train service quality, aiming to enhance the travel experience for all passengers.
