The western region plays a crucial role in the overall reform, development and stability of China. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in the first eight months of this year, the import and export volume of Western China reached 2.59 trillion yuan, a YoY increase of 10.1%, surpassing the national foreign trade growth rate by 4.1 percentage points. The western region includes 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, accounting for 72% of the country's land area and 27% of its population. In the first half of this year, significant new progress was made in the region's high-level opening-up. The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor launched 5,536 sea-rail combined transport trains, a 22.7% YoY increase. The 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in Western China saw imports and exports reach 1.93 trillion yuan, up by 10.2% year-on-year. These regions are breaking through traditional thinking patterns, working together to create expansive open channels, and pushing to establish a southward logistics network covering over 100 countries and regions, with connections to more than 500 ports. The CRE train now reaches over 20 countries and 200 cities in Europe.
